**King of Fade** is inspired by The Notorious B.I.G., one of the most iconic figures in hip-hop history.

An unmistakable presence.

That presence is reconstructed entirely through fragments of vintage Japanese indigo-dyed boro fabric.

The **“Fade”** in the title refers to one of the defining characteristics of vintage indigo itself.

Over decades of use, deep indigo gradually fades into countless shades of blue.

Worn.
Faded.
Marked by time.

Those naturally aged colors become the palette of the artwork.

The original piece was created by individually cutting, layering, and assembling fragments of vintage indigo textiles by hand.

**No paint. No dye. Only fabric.**

Different shades of indigo, fading, scars, weaves, and imperfections become the colors themselves, creating light, shadow, expression, and presence entirely through textile.

Nothing new is added to create the color.

The artwork uses the time already embedded in the fabric.

Faded indigo is not simply color that has disappeared.

It is color created by time.

That memory of indigo is brought together with a figure whose presence continues to endure within hip-hop culture.

This edition is a high-quality giclée art print created from the original textile artwork and printed on **Awa Washi Kozo**, a traditional Japanese paper made from kozo fiber.
