Seigaiha Design – Indigo Currents

本作は、日本の伝統文様「青海波（せいがいは）」を題材に、藍染の古布を用いて構成した一点物のミニアートです。青海波は、穏やかに広がる波の文様として古くから親しまれ、未来永劫の平穏や幸福の象徴とされています。

藍染の端切れを一片ずつ貼り合わせ、ペイントや印刷を使わずに波のリズムを表現しました。深い藍から淡い藍へと移ろう濃淡が、まるで光を受けて揺らめく海面のように響き合い、静かな動きを感じさせます。

Seigaiha Design – Indigo Currents

This one-of-a-kind mini artwork reinterprets the traditional Japanese Seigaiha (blue ocean waves) pattern using fragments of vintage indigo-dyed boro fabric. The motif, symbolizing eternal peace and prosperity, has been cherished for centuries as a wish for calm and continuity.

Each piece of indigo cloth was hand-applied without any paint or print, relying solely on the natural texture and tonal gradation of the fabric. The gentle transition from deep to light indigo evokes the quiet rhythm of rippling waves, capturing the serene energy of the sea.

An NFT (non-fungible token) accompanies this work, providing verifiable digital authentication and ownership. Instead of a physical signature or paper certificate, the blockchain serves as a lasting record of the artist and provenance.
