This piece is inspired by the oiran—high-ranking courtesans of the Edo period, known not only for their beauty but also for their refined education, artistic talents, and commanding presence.

Unlike ordinary entertainers, the oiran were cultural icons, embodying elegance, intelligence, and inner strength. They captivated many, not merely with appearance, but with mastery in poetry, music, conversation, and poise.

In this work, the lavish array of hair ornaments is expressed through a range of indigo tones, symbolizing opulence and sophistication.
